[quote="nelsonclassic"]Hello friend, I agree what you said, but I think if we exercise regularly and seriously then we can get good health as well as good look. There are many exercises which makes our body healthy as well as slim. Initially I use to do exercise by myself but after sometime I got to know that I was doing it in a wrong way that's why I was not getting it's effect, then I started it under Fitness Instructor ,then he corrected me and I started it doing in a correct way...when I got the method then after sometime I started doing by myself, and I got it's result. It seems like there are really two issues: exercising to "look good," and exercising to be healthy.
When we are young, we rarely exercise to be "healthy" cause generally when we are young we are healthy. Looking good is a primary concern, maybe it's evolutionary (to snag a mate). We also have more time, so we can pay more attention to eating right and exercising.
As we age, the focus shits as image becomes less important as other things surpass it in priority like commitments to family and work. With less time and more commitments, there is more stress. A metaphor would be when you are young you think you are going to be rich, but as you age you are not concerned with making millions, just paying the bills. As we age, we know we are not going to look like a model, so we strive for something more achievable, good health.

jhelli~ I am like you. Right now I don't want to go over 140, but there are times that I do. My ultimate is to never, ever go over 150 no matter what my age. I think that just walking regularly as we get older helps.

just don't wait to go over 150, at least now just have some daily routines of exercise and surely your not gonna end up weighing that big soon.

This is an interesting topic. My mother is 78 and she is overweight, but always seems to be on a diet and buys exercise equiptment like crazy. Not that she actually uses the equiptment, but she has good intentions.
I am thinking that once I am 78, I would like to live my life eating whatever I want. Worring about it at that age seems silly to me.
On the other hand, I am 45 and I definitely worry about my weight and exercise for my health issues. I weigh 145 and feel that I am overweight. If I ever go over 150, I totally freak and go into major exercise/diet mode. So who really knows, when I am 78, I may still be like this.

I'm hoping I can get a slim figure now, when I'm young. When I'm older, I'll try to keep it, of course.

I always make sure that I've got the look all the time. I'll find ways and means to stay in shape. Many people say that I look too young for my age. It feels good to hear such compliments. That's why I eat healthy foods and have regular exercise no matter how busy I am.

Yeah, I used to be able to eat all the bread and pizza I wanted, my body would process it nicely without putting any weight on. Not anymore!
So I have cut down considerably on such foods.

I recently began to notice my metabolism slowing down....I can't munch like I used to w/out the proper nutrition my body doesn't shape up like it has in the past. I am glad to know we have found the answers here.

I certainly will continue to try to stay in shape. Keeping the weight off becomes more difficult with age, as the metabolism slows down, so many people just give up.

Post subject: Do we bother ?
As we get older do we have the interest in keeping in shape as we did when we were younger ? I sure hope that I keep my figure when I am older, I look at my Father who has no interest in his weight or keeping healthy and his health is very bad and as he ages he gets more nad more lazier.
Will you try to keep in shape as you get older ?
