You've come to the right place. There are a lot of knowledgeable people that post here, in addition to there being a great wealth of information on the site itself. I know you asked for diet help, but it seems to me that for someone who has exercised so much in the past, you would want to get back to exercising. I understand you have an injury, and you also identified you had shin splits making running difficult (or impossible), so maybe you should consider weight training, or an alternative cardio method like the stationary bike, elliptical, or hand-bike (all of which should not aggravate your shin splints). No doubt a proper eating plan will help you achieve your weight goals, but exercise is also an important component. On the site, they just put up this cool diet plan generator (although not finished), and when I went through it, I was impressed at the accuracy and depth of information they were able to provide. I would recommend running through that to see what it can do for you. It is more targeted based on the questions you answer, and may be a better starting point than people guessing what you need to do. Good luck.
Making minor changes in your diet may help. Sometimes, the body gets used to a particular routine and cannot improve its fat loss as a result.

just try to analyse your eating habits. just try to find out that what is the reason because which you have gained the extra weight. what lifestyle you are living, does it need any modifications. if you get answers of these questions, half of the work is completed.

I always keep my computer with me. If I get too stressed and want to eat I have something else to do, even if it's something completely pointless.

Post subject: Mind Power.
For many people who cant exercise, keeping the mind active and engaged has helped them to stop eating the wrong foods at the wrong times.

I agree with Patti. You have to come down to the reason you are eating things that aren't healthy for you. If you are a stress eater, then you have to find some activitiy to do when stressed rather than eat.
I did just read that it is important to eat proteins in the morning and of course lots of fiber. Drink lots of water also.

First think of what is making you overweight. Once you discover this you'll be on the right track. Do you stress eat (like I do)? or not as active as you used to be? Maybe try another form of exercise if running no longer works for you. Physical therapy could help your shins.

Hi,
Im trying to loose some of the excess body fat ive gained over the past few years. I used to be very fit and very active when i was younger. I did judo and used to run a lot as well as being in the royal marines.
I never had to worry about dieting as i was never overweight due to all the excersize i used to do. I came out of the marines becuase of an injury which has left me unable to excersize along wth getting really bad shin splints when ever i try to run (which i love).
What are the best supplements and foods to eat etc as im reaching the 16 stone mark, i think my ideal weight is around 13st and would love to reach it!
I understand your problems because I have overweight problems since my childhood. There is no alternative to the traditional methods of weight loss such as the food reducing and the physical activity. As to the supplements which are very helpful, I think that Hoodia is the best today.
