The low carb diet works well for me until it is time to introduce the carbs back into my system. I get the cravings all over again.
Carbs make me crave everything under the sun and then I go into binge eating. I so wish I could find a solution to this, other than never having another carb again...LOL There are carbs in absolutely everything.

From what I've heard, the Mediterranean diet works really well, too. I think it depends on your body type.

This is the exact opposite of the Mediterranean Diet, which is high carbs low proteins. I don't know what to say...

That's true. I've heard that it works well as a diet, but not so much in the long-run. I guess it would work if you always ate like that.

I am not a fan of "diets" because they are not sustainable over the long term. I will admit the low carb diet does work for losing weight, however, it is not a long term weight loss solution. It can also be difficult because if you deprive yourself of carbs, you will crave them like crazy.
So, my two cents, the low cab diet will work if you are an actor or model trying to lose a few pounds for a short term goal of a few weeks, but over the long term you will go back to eating carbs and gain the weight back. If you are looking for a long term weight loss solution, you should look at your lifestyle and make healthy changes over time that will eventually lead to a healthier lifestyle and sustained weight loss.

So what's your personal record of sticking to this diet? Who has done it the longest? Is anyone here who
always
eats like that? (I don't think I could do it, LOL!)

I love the low carb diet, I just stared today doing it, I always do it when I need it urgently, I just had a baby so there's a bit extra that needs shifting
If I stick to it I do real well.

Low carb is usually a little difficult to stick to. If you can, I've heard it works.

Low carb has been hard for me to stick with for longer than a few days. I get really weak. Adding whole grain carbs like oatmeal help me though!

It may seem to work in the short term, but before you go with the crash low carb diet you might want to take a closer look at what kind of carbs you're eating. Have you considered just switching to whole grain breads and pastas? Reducing the complexity of your carb intake can do wonders just on its own.

The low carb diet works really well for about two weeks then the weight loss starts to diminish. I have tweaked the low card diet in that I only consume protein shakes fortified with vitamins and minerals for 1 week then follow that with 1 week of low carb but actual food meals. This has worked wonders for the last few pounds before summer:)

Post subject: low carb is lame
The idea with a low carb diet is that by lumping carbs into the category of bad, you avoid the problems inherit to processed carbohydrates. The problem with this approach is it simply does NOT work over the long haul.
Over the long haul, you are going to eat carbs. That's just reality. We we do here with the LookCut Method is to help you understand that processed carbs work like a drug, meaning processed carbs promote binging and addictive behavior.
You need to understand what happens when you have them and how to deal with them. That way you know when you can eat them and when eating them will promote weight gain and hunger.
Conversely, one of the best ways to lean up is by the use of whole food carbs. One of the tricks is to look at the ratio of fiber to energy in a carb. Lots of fiber, low energy always promotes weight loss and fat loss.

Yes, it's hard to stick to the low carb especially when there's so many good things during the holidays! But I know it can be done and it helps as long as you can get the rest of the family to understand. When my husband was deployed a few years ago and I only had two small children, the low carb was easy. But when he's home and now with four older children, not so easy!
Good luck with it if you decide to use it to try to get going!
