I have seen some carb and fat blockers down at my local store and was wondering how these suppliments work, and of course what sort of side effects taking them could have on my body.
They have actually been reccommended to me by a friend of a friend, but I would like to know more about them first, if anyone can help. |

The carb blocker that is getting the most attention today is white bean extract. We did an article on it last year. Basically how it works is by blocking an enzyme needed to break down amylose, which is a long chain complex carbohydrate.
I'm not a fan of these for the simple reason that complex carbohydrates are NOT the problem. These are primarily found in veggies and "good carbs". Why would you want to block the carbs from veggies.
The main weight loss fat blocker is Alli. We also did an article on that you can find in the article section. I don't think Alli is something anyone can live with. It's simply the food additive Olestra that got made into a drug. Gross |

I am not 100% sold on whether or not these products are entirely legitimate. It seems to me that they are promising to ability to do something that is next to impossible |
