I have lost over 10 pounds with this 12-day diet:

For the first three days, you drink buttermilk.
The next three days, you eat apples.
The next three days, you eat boiled chicken.
The last three days, you each cheese with red wine.

It works!!

Without any doubts it works but such method is very dangerous. It's very huge stress for the organism and of course it is accompanied with the big loss of the energy.

It may work, but at what cost? I don't think I could do it even if I wanted to. You gotta change your out look. Don't think diet, think about sustained change. What lifestyle changes can you make that will promote weight loss and being able to eat what you want. People want to be able to eat cheese and wine, but I don't think they want to do it three days straight! Find balance.

Well, I understand what you are saying about having a good, consistently balanced diet, and I do try to stick to it. But this 12-day diet is something you only do on occasion, when you want to lose some stubborn weight. Certainly, one should continue to eat healthy after going off this diet to keep the weight off.

That may work, but as noted above it's a definite shock to the system and not really recommended, you could be doing way more damage in the long run and losing weight that quickly you'll almost certainly rebound.

I'm afraid to try it. I'll prefer to exercise more and eat nutritious food. I may lose weight in 12 days but not sure if I'm still fine. I'll surely crave lots of food.

I'm pretty new here but... How much of a shock to the system are these diets? Are they dangerous?

Mine was a cleanse. I am not sure if I am allowed to post the program..I suppose you could email me, kellerh@shaw.ca, but mine was safe and healthy for my system and my dr. approved this for me. I was never starving and my body was receiving vitamins so I found that I had no cravings and gave up my diet pepsi habit!

I do not know why this would be a big shock to the system, it my case, it wasn't; on the contrary, I felt great during and after the dieting. But, of course, if you are cautious you should ask your doctor's / dietitian's advice first.

That is all you are eating for those days? I like the last days menu:)

I don't think I could stand the buttermilk part! It probably isn't good for you in some way, but look at the alternatives that many choose~ diet pills, starvation.

It is better than most of the alternatives. I've heard that going for one day, a full 24 hours, once a month, without eating anything is actually good for you. Has anyone else heard this?

Try doing what boxers do, run and skip every day. Be careful not to cut out too many fluids.

It is called "fasting" and millions of people do it regularly, be sure to drink fresh water throughout the day.

I didn't know it was that common. My sister says that it really works as a cleanse, though.
